GSCS' NISC-accredited Senior Center, El Centro de Amistad, is located at 1600 Saltillo and is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Through our health education, immediate assitance, and case management services, the goal of El Centro de Amistad programs is to enable low-income seniors who are at risk of social dependence to achieve or maintain optimum social, psychological, and physical functioning.  Every year, El Centro de Amistad serves over 400 low-income seniors from our community. 

The following services are available to seniors and their families year round:

Regular Diabetes Screenings


Case management and counseling services


Exercise and health assessments by a registered nurse and certified personal trainers


Year-round support groups for seniors and their caregivers 


Immediate Needs Assitance

Nutrition Education

Arts and Crafts

Guitar and Choir Classes

Computer Lab

Dance Therapy

Shopping Assistance

Field Trips to local institutions

Cultural and Seasonal Celebrations

Tai Chi Classes

Legal Clinic 

Because El Centro de Amistad is a City of San Antonio Senior Nutrition Site, we provide daily hot, nutritious meals to low-income seniors in our neighborhood.

SENIOR SERVICES MISSION
Good Samaritan Community Services' Senior Center, El Centro de Amistad, is committed to quality services improving the health and quality of the life of older adults.  GSCS offers a full time, five day a week program with activities and services designed especially for older citizens, reducing isolation, addressing economic, safety and health care issues.   El Centro de Amistad is a collaboration of participants, neighborhood families, community partners and Centro staff who provide services in a supportive, respectful environment to aging adults in our community.
