  • Afterschool Assistant
  • Career Guest Speaker
  • Field Trip Chaperone

Camp Good Sam
June 11 - July 19
Monday - Thursday
8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Camp Good Sam is an initiative that is designed to address summer learning loss by utilizing a literary theme (book series) to guide program culture and learning goals. Basing all curriculum on the chosen book series, our campus transports our youth into the book they're reading. Volunteers are essential in making this program a success helping with daily activities.

  • Volunteers MUST be Adults or Rising Juniors or Seniors in High School.
  • Volunteers MUST receive background check clearance prior to participation. (Exception of Classroom Decorators during Camp Good Sam)
  • Volunteers MUST serve for a minimum of three hours a day and one day per week.
  • We do NOT accept court ordered service hours.

VOLUNTEER AS AN INDIVIDUAL OR GROUP

Classroom Decorator - (Date TBD) 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Volunteers assist staff on transforming our campus into the book series. For example, if Harry Potter was the book series chosen, then you would transform campus into Hogwarts School. This requires artistic volunteers who are willing to take initiative and use their creativity to decorate. In addition, volunteers are expected to participate and engage in programming to ensure that clients have an enjoyable experience.

Afterschool Assistant - (School Year Only) 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Volunteers assist staff in performing tasks like reading out loud with students, tutoring or assisting with homework, and monitoring snacks and meals for our students. In addition, volunteers are expected to participate and engage in programming to ensure that clients have an enjoyable experience.

Activity Assistant - (Summer Only) 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Volunteers assist staff with day-to-day activities such as gathering materials, distributing program supplies, assisting with demonstrations and hands-on activities. In addition, volunteers are expected to participate and engage in programming to ensure that clients have an enjoyable experience.

Field Trip Chaperone - (Year Round) As Needed

Volunteers assist staff with educational field trips that occur through out the school year and summer. Field trips are never on a consistent day. With that being said, volunteers must be flexible with scheduling during Monday-Thursday. In addition, volunteers are expected to participate and engage in programming to ensure that clients have an enjoyable experience.

Career Guest Speaker - (Year Round) As Needed

Volunteers present their current career, career goals and what got them to where they are today. We ask that you take this time to inspire youth to think about and set goals for their future by engaging them in robust conversations and/or activities. (I.E. Think Career Day at School)

Meal Monitor - (Summer Only) 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Volunteers assist staff during meal time by supervising youth, distributing meals and providing general assistance. In addition, volunteers are expected to participate and engage in programming to ensure that clients have an enjoyable experience.

Office Assistant - (Summer Only) 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Volunteers assist staff with day-to-day behind the scenes activities such as signing in and out youth, registration information, making copies, answering phone calls or any other general office tasks. In addition, volunteers are expected to participate and engage in programming to ensure that clients have an enjoyable experience.
