VOLUNTEER AS AN INDIVIDUAL OR GROUP

Classroom Decorator - (June 7, 2018 - June 8, 2018 Only) 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Volunteers assist staff on transforming our campus into the book series. For example, if Harry Potter was the book series chosen, then you would transform campus into Hogwarts School. This requires artistic volunteers who are willing to take initiative and use their creativity to decorate. In addition, volunteers are expected to participate and engage in programming to ensure that clients have an enjoyable experience.

Mentor - (Year Round)

At Good Samaritan, we want to set the best example for our students. Through a program that focuses on the 40 Developmental Assets set by the Search Institute, we target areas where our students might need some extra attention. Students that show signs of risk are paired with mentors. Mentoring provides our clients with a positive adult role model in their life. By engaging with our students, our mentors will provide a demonstration of these assets, like integrity and goal setting.

School Year:
Mentors must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED, and be able to commit to at least four (4) consecutive monthly visits at an hour each time. Mentoring is available for the 8th grade level at Stell and Stillman Middle Schools from 12:15 pm-1:15 pm. Mentoring is available for the 5th grade level at Skinner and Russell Elementary Schools from 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm.

Summer:
Mentors are invited to our Camp Good Sam location to meet with their mentee(s) during our program time. This runs Monday - Thursday from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.

Office Assistant - (Year Round) 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Volunteers assist staff with day-to-day behind the scenes activities such as signing in and out youth, registration information, making copies, answering phone calls or any other general office tasks. In addition, volunteers are expected to participate and engage in programming to ensure that clients have an enjoyable experience.

Activity Assistant - (Summer Only) 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Volunteers assist staff with day-to-day activities such as gathering materials, distributing program supplies, assisting with demonstrations and hands-on activities. In addition, volunteers are expected to participate and engage in programming to ensure that clients have an enjoyable experience.

Career Guest Speaker - (Summer Only) As Needed

Volunteers present their current or past career, career goals and what got them to where they are today. We ask that you use this time to inspire youth to think about and set goals for their future by engaging them in robust conversations and/or activities. (I.E. Think Career Day at School)

Field Trip Chaperone - (Summer Only) As Needed

Volunteers assist staff with educational field trips that occur through out the summer. Field trips are never on a consistent day. With that being said, volunteers must be flexible with scheduling during Monday-Thursday. In addition, volunteers are expected to participate and engage in programming to ensure that clients have an enjoyable experience.

Meal Monitor - (Summer Only) 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Volunteers assist staff during meal time by supervising youth, distributing meals and providing general assistance. In addition, volunteers are expected to participate and engage in programming to ensure that clients have an enjoyable experience.
