Life-Changing Pineapple Shrub Drink
In 2012 Good Samaritan Community Services formed a “philanthro-preneurial” partnership with Well-Seasoned LLC, a partnership of two female food professionals with over 60 years of combined experience in many aspects of food and hospitality. Cathryn Tarasovic and Cynthia Guido produce Shrub Drinks
, a collection of artisanal drinking vinegars that they make and bottle entirely by hand at Good Samaritan Center in San Antonio.
Cathy and Cynthia conduct regularly scheduled cooking demonstrations for Good Sam’s large and energetic seniors group, using foods that have been included in that month’s Food Bank commodity distribution. Recipes are created to be easy to prepare, keep budget in mind and focus on addressing health concerns, such as obesity and diabetes, that are prevalent among Latinos. These events are a joy for the chefs, highly anticipated and always well received, especially the tasting.
To reflect the culture and spirit of Good Sam and its clients, Cathy and Cynthia developed a shrub drink flavor called "Life-Changing Pineapple," in which all proceeds benefit the programs which help change the lives of more than 5,000 individuals and families each year!
