Simon Salas - Chief Executive Officer

Simon Salas, CEOSimon Salas received his BA from Columbia College, his JD from Columbia Law School, and an MPA from Columbia's School of International and Public Affairs. Simon served as a chief executive in San Antonio for 30 years, creating service delivery infrastructures for start-up and mature organizations in the education, government, nonprofit and business sectors. After serving as Vice President and Board Member of GSCS between the years 2010 and 2016, Simon serves the community that he was born and raised in, and works diligently to strengthen GSCS' partnerships with the families it serves. Alejandra N. Arquisola - Senior Director of Youth and Teen Services

Ale NavarroAlejandra N. Arquisola received her B.A. in Psychology from St. Mary’s University. "Ale" joined the agency in October 2013 and is responsible for the oversight of the Youth & Teen Services Department and Staff, developing and strengthening new and existing community-based relationships with critical stakeholders to broaden the reach and increase awareness of the Agency’s mission, programs, and services, and for promoting partnerships and collaborations as appropriate. In addition, she manages special projects on policy, provides staff support to the Board of Directors, oversees the agency's volunteer program, and all facilities management. She was the chairwoman of the West Side Barrio Network, a network of over 40 agencies serving the 78207 zip code for nearly six years. Contact:

Cynthia Cardenas - Senior Director of Family Services

Cyndi picCynthia Cardenas holds an MEd. in School Administration from Trinity University and an MEd. degree from Our Lady of the Lake University in Early Elementary Education with a Specialty in Early Childhood Education. She also has a BA in Sociology from Our Lady of the Lake University. Ms. Cardenas has 27 years of professional experience serving children and families. She is responsible for managing programs provided to families in the Early Head Start, Preschool, Parents as Teachers Program, and the Senior Center. Contact:

Mariya Flores - Chief Financial Officer

MariyaMariya Flores received her BBA in Accounting from St. Mary's University and her MBA in Business Management from Our Lady of the Lake University. She has over 15 years' experience in finance from her work at San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, The Capital Group Company, Boys & Girls Club of San Antonio, and other organizations throughout the City. Mariya joined the agency in May of 2019, and she demonstrates talent for driving positive change, maximizing operations, and attaining balanced fiscal performance. Contact:

Jamie Herrmann - Director of Human Resources & Talent Management

Jamie HerrmannJamie Herrmann is a graduate of The University of Texas-Tyler with a Master of Science in Human Resources Development, and a BA in Psychology from The University of Texas-San Antonio. Jamie joined the agency in August 2018 and is responsible for the Human Resources department. Her experience includes 10 years in the Human Resources field with concentration in policy, training, and employee relations. Contact:


Brandy Flores - Chief Development Officer

Brandy FloresBrandy Flores is a graduate of Our Lady of the Lake University with a Master of Science degree in Organizational Leadership. She served as the cohort leader for her Master's program and graduated with a 4.0 GPA.  She also has her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from The University of Texas at San Antonio. Brandy is certified in Supervisory and Management from the University of the Incarnate Word School of Business in partnership with the San Antonio Area Foundation. Brandy served on the Board of Directors for the Association of Fundraising Professionals as the Vice President of Programs for three years. Her experience includes 10 years of Development and Fundraising for the nonprofit sector.  She has successfully built a network of donor relations, working on campaigns, special events, and marketing that has highlighted the organization and increased donor retention and sustainability.
